Chalus, France
Chalus is a small village and ruined castle (now named Chalus-Cabrol) in the Haute-Vienne departement of France, in the Limousin region.Chalus' claim to fame is that Richard I of England was killed here by a crossbow bolt, while besieging the castle in 1199.
Richard's bowels are still preserved in the chapel, and there is a medieval garden. Other attractions of the village include a museum dedicated to the chestnut.
