The Structure of Scientific Revolutions
The 1962 book, Structure of Scientific Revolutions, by Thomas Kuhn, was an extremely influential book. It popularized the terms paradigm and "paradigm shift", and gave a leftist view of how science works that fascinated philosophers and other academic non-scientists.
Most of the book was not controversial.
